Module 2

This module has helped me think about using standards, CFQ's, or formative assessment in the following ways...

The standards gave me my topic. I knew that I wanted to create a unit on perspective drawing because of the importance placed on it in the standards. After that I began really researching and I discovered the importance of this standard in all artwork. This is essential to build upon and showing the use of perspective in all artwork gives students a better view of how they can use this in their own work. This took me to my CFQ's and they helped me to better frame my purpose to the students. They have a good idea of where I am going with this assignment after thinking through these questions. The different types of assessments keeps me abreast of where the students are at all throughout the unit. That way I wont get to the end and realize that there were areas that didn't come across in my teaching. I think the best link made will be through the study of artwork of the past and how perspective is always used in most artwork. Also the difference made in artwork with and without perspective.

1. How can projects help my students meet standards and develop 21st century skills?

The hands-on experience helps students retain information much longer because they had to use higher order thinking skills to create their project. It is taking the information they need to learn and seeing how it can be applicable to their life.

2. How can I use projects to enhance student learning?
Projects are a natural part of art. The standards I am trying to teach are best understood through creating artwork. This makes my class very project-based. It also serves as a reminder of the skills learned because they can look at the artwork created and that will help to remind them of how they went about creating it for future pieces.
